Leadership Development

Leadership Development

Over the years the Native American Women’s Health Education Resource Center has been involved in leadership development programming. We have focused on strengthening infrastructures of organizations, sharing information, networking, policy development, and partnership development. Our emerging leadership activist program brings young women to work at the Resource Center to give them the opportunity to apply their skills, while obtaining experience in programming that supports policy change in such areas as environmental justice, reproductive justice, and preventing violence against women. It is this unique approach to policy change, driven by the community-based experience, that has been so successful in bringing about social change within the Native American community, as well as impacting Federal Indian policy. Other areas of leadership development programming have included youth development, trainings, and prevention programs.
